Community Hall

The Community Hall exhibits are located on the upper level of the Northern York County Fire and Rescue Building at 109 S. Balitmore Street. (Access is gained via the alley behind the building or the steps along the left side of the building if parked on Baltimore Street.) Here we display what you and your neighbors have been growing, canning, designing, sewing, baking, drawing, painting, and taking pictures of during the past year. Rules, categories, and prizes are listed below. There is something for everyone! Some of the special categories offered this year are the Blue Ribbon Apple Pie Contest, Public Auction of Baked Goods, Dill Pickle Contest, Pumpkin Pie, Blueberry Pie, and Whoopie Pie Contests, Peanut Butter Fudge Contest, Heaviest Pumpkin Contest and a Drop Sugar Cookies Contest.

HOMEMADE ICE CREAM CHURN-OFF

Thursday night, there will be a Homemade Ice Cream Churn-Off starting at 6:00 p.m. (All contestants must pre-register by October 8th.)

  1. Must have hand turn ice cream freezer. Any flavor of ice cream may be used.

  2. Must be pre-mixed with pasteurized eggs and ready to turn at 6:00 p.m.

  3. Must have water-proof tub to hold freezer. Ice and salt will be provided.

Four Prizes: 1st: $100.00; 2nd: $75.00; 3rd: $50.00; 4th: $25.00

After the ice cream is judged, free samples will be available to the public.

CROSS CUT SAW CONTEST

On Thursday night at 8:30 pm there will be an old fashion cross cut saw contest. Get a partner and join in the fun. The Fair will furnish the saw and wood. The 2 person team will be judged on smoothness and the time it took to complete the cut. Sign up 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

MALE TEAM: 18 YEARS AND OVER 1st: $50.00; 2nd: $35.00; 3rd: $15.00

Take your sweetheart (and your sweet tooth) to our "Ice Cream Social" on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at various times inside the Community Hall.

Exhibit Rules and Regulations

  1. The public may enter articles for display at the Dillsburg Community Hall (located behind the Fire Hall) on Tuesday evening, from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm; Wednesday evening, from 6:00 pm. until 9:00 pm and Thursday morning, from 8:00 am until 11:00 am All entries must be completed by 11:00 am.

  2. PLEASE NOTE: Department 19 Art Work & Photography (Photography is for Amateurs Only) - THERE HAS BEEN A CHANGE IN ENTRY TIMES. Entry times are Tuesday from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm, Wednesday from 5:00 pm - 9 pm and Thursday 8 am - 11 am. Also, no more than three (3) entries in each division per person and they cannot have been entered in the Fair before. All pictures must have wires or hooks for hanging.

  3. The Chairman of the department may at their discretion refuse any and all exhibits after the above dates and hours.

  4. Judging will begin at 11:00 am Thursday.

  5. Department superintendents may enter exhibits in their own departments, but neither they nor any other exhibitor may communicate with the judges during the time of determining the awards, except to answer questions proposed by the judges.

  6. Any exhibitor interfering with the judges while making awards shall forfeit any premium to which he would otherwise be entitled. Entered exhibits may not be withdrawn.

  7. No exhibits may be removed from display before 10:00 pm Saturday, and then only on presentation of CLAIM STUB. Hours for removing exhibits are Saturday at 10:00 pm to 11:00 pm, Sunday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

  8. Premium cards and ribbons must be displayed for the duration of the fair. Failure to do so will be cause to forfeit cash awards.

  9. The Fair Association assumes no responsibility for loss or damage to exhibits from any cause. The Fair Association will exercise care in handling the exhibits, but only on these conditions are they accepted.

  10. In absence of competition, right is reserved to award a premium the article merits.

  11. All exhibits must have been made, grown, produced or processed by the exhibitor or some of his family within the past year.

  12. No prizes or ribbons will be awarded for an article, which does not come under a class in the premium list. Prize money will be mailed within 30 days.

  13. While it is the desire of the Association to pay all premiums in full, should a contingency arise whereby the receipts of the Association are insufficient to do so, then in that event the right is reserved to pay prorate in all exhibition classes after deducting expenses and the amount so paid shall discharge the obligation of the Association of the current

  14. All exhibits must be removed from the Community Hall on Saturday, between 10:00 and 11:00 p.m. and between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Sunday. After such time, all remaining articles will be disposed of as the Chairman shall deem proper. Any proceeds realized shall be placed in the Association Treasury.

  15. Community Hall will be closed during parades on Friday night and Saturday night.
