Children's Parade

Pre-Registration Information

CHILDREN ARE ENCOURAGED TO PRE-REGISTER FOR THE CHILDREN'S PARADE. Any child who has been pre-registered, using the forms appearing in the DILL PICKLE and local newspapers, may pick up their number at the registration center between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. the night of the parade.

There is NO raindate for the Children's Parade

PLEASE NOTE: It is prohibited to throw candy towards the spectators. If your entry has candy, it must be HANDED OUT!

Children's Parade Divisions

Section 1 Halloween Land – Up to and including age 8

Best individual Halloween Character (witch, vampire, mummy, etc.)

Section 2 Halloween Land – Age 9-14

Best individual Halloween Character (witch, vampire, mummy, etc.)

Section 3 Halloween Land – Group (2-9 Participants)

Best Halloween Group (witch, vampire, mummy, etc.)

Section 4 Wheel Land  

Best decorated wheeled wagon, walker, etc. pushed or pedaled by costumed child Or Best Costumed Child wearing roller skates, etc. 

Section 5 Creative Fantasy Land – Up to and including age 8

Best Costumed Child with a non-Halloween theme.  (TV, Movie, Book character, etc. )

Section 6 Creative Fantasy Land – Age 9-14

Best Costumed Child with a non-Halloween theme.  (TV, Movie, Book character, etc. )

Section 7 Creative Fantasy Land – Group (2-9 participants)

Best Costumed Child with a non-Halloween theme.  (TV, Movie, Book character, etc. )

Section 8 Land of Many

Best Costumed Community/Church/Daycare Group

Best decorated wagon, stroller, or another non-motorized vehicle in which the costumed child is riding

Pets will be allowed on the floats.  Pet must ride on float and be part of theme.

Section 12 Pet Land

Most original costumed pet, owner, or group with a pet included

 


 PARADE RULES AND INFORMATION:

THE DILLSBURG COMMUNITY FAIR ASSOCIATION HAS THE SOLE AUTHORITY TO REJECT ANY ENTRIES DEEMED INAPPROPRIATE.

  1. A number is required to be eligible for prizes through judging.  Pre-Registration for a number is recommended for the Children’s parade.  Registration forms are available on the Farmers fair website and in the Dill Pickle.  All pre-registrants shall pickup their number at the registration center between 5 and 6 pm the night of the parade. 

    2.       Children’s Parade registration will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church from 4:30-6PM

    3.       No motorized vehicles

    4.       Entrants limited to children up to and including 14 years of Age or younger as of the parade date. The Friday Night Children’s Parade is intended to showcase children.  Adults accompanying individuals or groups should walk slightly behind and not be dressed to appear as part of the costume.  Those in violation will not be judged.    

    5.       All Children aged 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

    6.       Any child 14 years of age or younger wishing to march in the parade but not be considered for a prize will not be required to register. Any participant not wearing a number will not be eligible for prizes. 

    7.       PRE-JUDGING WILL TAKE PLACE PRIOR TO THE START OF THE PARADE AT ST. PAUL’S LUTHERAN CHURCH BEGINNING PROMPTLY AT 6 PM.  IT IS IMPORTANT THAT ALL CONTESTANTS BE LINED UP IN THE CORRECT SECTION BY 6PM.  FINAL JUDGING WILL BE AT THE JUDGES STAND.  ALL JUDGES DECISIONS WILL BE FINAL. 

    8.       Prizes will be awarded by number which must be obtained at the registration table and displayed visibly.  This number should be attached to the right side of a costumed person, banner, or prop with eligible children participants to be visible to the judges. 

    9.       Parade will form and start near intersection of S. Baltimore St. and Hanover St.’s.  It will proceed down S. Baltimore St. ending at the post office.  To be eligible for a prize, entrants must complete parade route through to the vicinity of the Dollar General not before.

    10.   All pets must be in Section 12, Pet Land unless the pet is riding on a float.  Pets must be leashed or always caged and controlled by the parade participant and an adult.  The participant and adult are responsible for pet clean up.  If a pet accompanies a group or individual and is not  disclosed at registration any prize will be forfeit.   

    11.   Prize winners will be posted on the website, Facebook and in the Dillsburg Banner.  Prize money will be mailed by check.  Make sure to list one party, who is aware, as the recipient of the prize on the registration. 

    12.    CANDY MAY BE HANDED OUT BUT NOT THROWN!!!
